If you ever catch Robert Davis performing live, you will notice how his comedy songs really make you laugh. That's because he works hard at his crafts of songwriting and comedy writing; he's sold jokes to Jay Leno and other talk show hosts, he's even written barbs about a Prime Minister for a huge party fundraising dinner. Mostly, it's corporate video and speeches that get the brunt of Robert's barbs. When he does write non-comedy contemporary songs, he strives to write good ones, and occasionally they've been rewarded if not through royalties but recognition through songwriting awards: Five Minutes (David Leask/Kristi Magraw/Robert Davis) won First Place in the Country/Folk category of the 2003 Unisong International Song Contest; I Can't Handle Alone (Dan McVeigh/Robert Davis) won an Honorable Mention in the 2003 CMT/CMT.com/NSAI Song Contest; Five Minutes (Leask/Magraw/Davis) also won an 2004 Honorable Mention in the CMT/CMT.com/NSAI Song Contest. His songs have been cut by Rick Washbrook (A Gypsy's Bed--Tribute to Lenny Breau); David Leask (Tightrope of Dreams), who released Five Minutes as a single to Canadian country radio, and Dan McVeigh (Drove CD).Robert Davis is best known as a children's music performer and songwriter.Robert recently licensed eight of his children's songs for eight compilation CDs to be released in the U.S., Canada and internationally by Casablanca Kids.Five of Robert's children's music videos have been airing on Canada's Treehouse TV since 1998.Robert performs at songwriter events around Southern Ontario and travels throughout the province with his Robert Davis Kids Show.Robert loves to co-write, so check out his music or a live show and email him if interested.
